Police on Nov. 15 said the offences took place between 1975 and 1977 and involved one victim. Harper, 72, who lives in Ireland, also faces three charges of indecent assault and four of gross indecency relating to the same alleged victim.

He made a four-minute appearance at Hereford Magistrates’ Court Nov. 19, when he was granted unconditional bail and ordered to appear before a judge at Worcester Crown Court Dec. 2.

In his heyday, Harper performed with acts including Pink Floyd, who provided vocals for the act’s “Have A Cigar.”

He released 30 solo albums and inspired the oddball Led Zeppelin song “Hats Off to (Roy) Harper.”
