Bowery Booking Rough Trade Room

Rough Trade – now NYC’s largest record store situated in Brooklyn – is more than a simple shop, with 15,000 square feet of retail space, a coffee counter and a 300-capacity performance space that will reportedly feature nearly daily concerts.
The store will also include what’s being called “the room,” with rotating artist-themed art installations.
Store co-owner Stephen Godfroy told the New York Times he thinks people will want to spend time visiting the store.
“If you create an atmosphere that is conducive to spending time, then people will buy a record, whether it’s on their first visit, or maybe second or third,” he said.
Frequent in-store performances could help.
The Times noted that some of the shows will be free, or free with the purchase of an album, and Bowery Presents will book and sell other concerts in the space. Upcoming performances include Childish Gambino and Nick Lowe.
