The Rolling Stones On Fire

The Rolling Stones have added some more dates to go along with the sold-out Adelaide show booked a few weeks ago. The gigs make up a complete Australian and New Zealand outing dubbed the “14 On Fire Tour.”

Following the band’s “50 and Counting” anniversary trek in 2013, the “14 On Fire Tour” begins March 19 in Perth.

Mick Jagger and the crew will once again be joined by former bandmate Mick Taylor, who was part of the lineup from 1969-1974, as a special guest. The band will also be bringing along its special stage based on the tongue and lips. And that means you can count on the return of the “Tongue Pit” GA standing area offering fans in the section “an incomparable 360-degree concert experience.”

The last time the band toured downunder was for 2006’s “A Bigger Bang” World Tour, which included stops in Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland and Wellington. Brisbane has been waiting for a return from the band since the 2003 “Licks” tour while Adelaide and Perth have been holding out for another Stone show since 1995’s “Voodoo Lounge World Tour.”

Here’s the plan for 2014:

March 19 – Perth, Australia, Perth Arena
March 22 – Adelaide, Australia, Adelaide Oval
March 25 – Sydney, Australia, Allphones Arena
March 28 – Melbourne, Australia, Rod Laver Arena
March 30 – Woodend, Australia, Hanging Rock
April 2 – Boondall, Australia, Brisbane Entertainment Centre
April 5 – Auckland, New Zealand, Mt Smart Stadium

Of course no Stones tour announcement would be complete without a few quotes!

“Can’t wait to reconnect with all our friends in Australia & New Zealand,” Mick Jagger said. “It’s been a while since we’ve played to you all, so we are looking forward to being back on stage & playing your favourite songs.”

Keith Richards added, “We all had such a ball this year and so we wanted to keep it going! The energy between the band is better than ever and we’re all looking forward to coming back Down Under. I can’t wait to get back on the stage with the boys.”

A presale for the new dates via Frontier Touring begins Dec. 9, followed by the general public onsale Dec. 16 at 9 a.m. local time. A limited amount of “lucky dip” seats will be available during the general onsale giving fans the chance to get some of the best tickets for just $99.
