You’ve Invited To Maynard James Keenan’s Birthday Party

Maynard James Keenan is turning the big 5-0 next year and to mark the occasion he’s taking the stage with his bands Puscifer and A Perfect Circle at a birthday celebration he’s calling “Cinquanta.” The lineup also includes a reunion performance by Failure.

The b-day bash is set for May 10 at Los Angeles’ Greek Theatre.

“Making it to the half century mark can be equal parts daunting and relieving,” Keenan said. “I figured I would remove the sting of officially being referred to as ‘Gramps’ by throwing a party and outlasting all of my rude friends.”

Keenan, who has said he personally asked Failure to reunite for his birthday, is thrilled to be getting his wish.

“This was the perfect opportunity to tick off one of my bucket list items in the form of a Failure reunion,” he said. “What better birthday present could one ever hope for?”

The alternative rock band, which split in the late ‘90s, announced in November that it was reuniting and would play its first show in 15 years in February.

Who knows which other acts will join the Cinquanta festivities. Maybe the other members of Tool will show up. An announcement promises that there’s “a steadily growing list of surprise guest appearances.”

Tickets go on sale Dec. 6 at 10 a.m. PST. VIP pakages with preferred seating and commemorative items will be available Dec. 5 at 10 a.m. PST.
