Brandon Boyd’s Sons Of The Sea On The Road

Incubus frontman Brandon Boyd is ready to take his new side project on the road. Sons of the Sea, which Boyd says is “more accessible” and “song-based” compared with his other band, is headed out on its debut U.S. tour in January.

Following the EP Compass in June, Boyd released Sons of the Sea’s self-titled debut album in September.

USA Today describes the project as evoking “the sounds of the Beach Boys and Harry Nilsson while still echoing Boyd’s funk-metal style.” Vice thinks the LP “plays off his more Beatlesque and R&B side.”

Boyd explained to USA Today, “Probably the most striking difference between Sons of the Sea and Incubus is that Sons of the Sea is more accessible, I guess you could say? It’s not as much heavy or alternative rock like Incubus, it’s a lot more song-based.”

See for yourself by checking out the lyric video for “Space & Time,” a tune that’s included on the EP and album. Boyd created the video himself via iMovie with an uncopyrighted NASA animation video.
