Jackson-AEG, Round 2?

Katherine Jackson apparently hasn’t had enough of Los Angeles courtrooms, with reports that the family matriarch who took on AEG and lost has filed a notice of her intention to request a new trial.

The New York Daily News reports that Jackson, who lost a wrongful death suit against AEG in October, filed the notice Dec. 2.

Her attorney, Brian Panish, told the paper it is the first step in filing an appeal of the jury verdict that AEG was not liable in the June 2009 death of Michael Jackson.

He claims juror misconduct and new evidence unearthed since the six-month trial are among the matriarch’s reasons for taking another dip at the legal well.

In the meantime, AEG has reportedly filed its own set of papers in an attempt to recover some $1.2 million in legal fees from the Jackson family.

“It is tragic that plaintiffs refuse to accept the jury’s verdict and move on from this baseless lawsuit,” AEG Live attorney Marvin Putnam told the Daily News.

“As the world knows, Michael Jackson provided handsomely for his children and his mother in his will. Clearly this lawsuit was not originally brought-nor is it now being done-to meet their needs. It is time to let these children move on from this tragedy so they can properly recover from the loss of their father.”
