The Doobie Brothers
and Elvis Costello & The Imposters
are the major acts announced so far for the inaugural Queenstown Blues & Roots Festival in New Zealand.
The one-day outdoor event will be at the Queenstown Events Centre April 26 against the picturesque backdrop of the Remarkables mountain range. It is expected to draw 15,000.
Local acts on the bill include platinum-spinning Fly My Pretties, globally renowned The Black Seeds, veteran King Leo and all-girl Johnny Cash tribute act The Johnnys.
Organising the event are Grant Hilton, whose 30 years in the live business included 10 years with Australia’s Bluesfest, and Barry Ellis whose Ellis Hospitality Group runs pubs and restaurants in Queenstown and Dunedin.
