Garth Brooks Talks 2014 World Tour
“You know what, since it’s you and since we’ve had a history forever, let’s announce it,” Brooks told GMA anchor Robin Roberts.
Brooks said he had been worried that he was too old for the road and that the outing might turn into a “wheelchair and walker tour kind of thing,” and that his first priority was to receive approval from his wife Trisha Yearwood and his three daughters.
“It sure feels good to get to throw your hat back in the ring,” Brooks said. “All my babies are fine with it. Ms. Yearwood is fine with it. So now I get to do what I love to do, which is play music. I get to be with the person I want to be with, which is Ms. Yearwood.”
Brooks also said his daughters’ ages were also a factor in agreeing to a world tour.
“Our baby is a senior in high school. My children are off on their own so the guilt of not being there … I’m a phone call dad now. ‘Hey Dad, I love you, can I borrow some money?’”
Brooks was on “Good Morning America” to hype his six-disc box set – Blame It All on My Roots: Five Decades Of Influences – which contains his greatest hits, a DVD of his Las Vegas show and several cover selections.
Brooks, who has been performing solo in a multiple-year residency at the Encore Theater At Wynn Las Vegas, announced last week that he will bring his band to the venue for two shows taking place Jan. 3-4.
