Concord Pavilion Returns

The Sleep Train Pavilion in Concord, Calif., is returning to its roots and will once again be known as Concord Pavilion with the signing of a new management agreement between the city and Live Nation.

Live Nation was approved for a 10-year contract and commits to pay the city $800,000 annually plus a bonus on every ticket sold beyond 100,000 in a year, according to the Contra Costa Times.

The bonus begins at $3 per ticket for the first five years then at $4 for the second half of the contract.

If Live Nation opts to extend its contract for five years, the city would receive $900,000 per year plus $5 per ticket sold over 100,000.

Live Nation must book a minimum of 75 concerts and pay Concord $40,000 for each such show that fails to sell 3,000 tickets.

The promotion company also must spend $3.7 million on improving the 38-year-old venue, the Times said.

It will also provide free tickets for Concord residents, an outreach program for school children, and will allow residents to buy concert tickets before they go on sale to the general public.
