Arcade Fire Headlining Glastonbury 2014

Glastonbury gave its faithful fans an early Christmas present today by revealing Arcade Fire as the first headliner for 2014. The appearance is just the latest stop in the band’s mammoth schedule next year in support of Reflektor.

The festival is set for June 25-29 at Worthy Farm in Pilton, England. You’ll find the Canadian indie rock band, which played Glasto in 2007, on the Pyramid Stage June 27.

It will probably be a few more months before the rest of the lineup is unveiled. Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis hinted in September that some of the big names in 2014 might be new to the festival.

“Next year’s headliners are more or less in place,” Eavis told NME. “They’re three bands who haven’t played Glastonbury, and that’s important. There aren’t many bands left who haven’t played the festival, and before we run out I’d like to persuade the ones on my wish list to come down. I think I’ve managed that with these three.”

Whoever ends up taking the stage in 2014 won’t affect tickets sales. The 2014 allotment sold out in record time after just an hour and 27 minutes.

You might still have a chance to get a ticket in the spring when Glastonbury holds a resale of any returned tickets.
