Kellie Pickler Eyes Broadway

Kellie Pickler may be looking for more success outside of Nashville.  After her victory on ABC’s “Dancing With The Stars” the country artist wants to give Broadway a try, hopefully, playing one of her idols.

Perhaps Carrie Underwood’s performance in a production of “The Sound Of Music” that aired on NBC over the holidays has inspired other country singers to think outside of the Nashville box.  Especially if they’ve won a nationally televised dancing contest.

“Since the show I’ve been wanting to do Broadway so bad just to throw together two of my passions – dance and music,” Pickler told Country Weekly.

But Pickler isn’t waiting for any Broadway role.  She has something specific in mind.

“I want them to do like a Tammy Wynette Broadway musical!  I know Dolly Parton has her Broadway shows and I think if anybody lived a country song, it’s Tammy.”

But that doesn’t mean portraying Tammy Wynette is Pickler’s only Broadway aspiration.  She says her “Dancing With The Stars” partner Derek Hough kept telling her she should play Roxie in “Chicago.”

“That would be amazing,” Pickler said.  “I’ve watched that movie a million times.  I know it by heart.”
