Getting Intimate With Rob Thomas

Rob Thomas is spending April as well as the first week and a half of May on the road playing gigs from the West Coast to East, including some intimate venues. The road trip begins at the 1,200-capacity Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula, Calif.

So, what’s on the agenda? You can expect a career-spanning set, which means there will probably be tunes from both of his solo LPs – 2005’s … Something to Be and 2009’s Cradlesong – as well as selections from Thomas’ discography with Matchbox 20. The setlist will most likely include favorites from the band’s debut, 1996’s Yourself or Someone like You, and a track or two from its latest, 2012’s North.

Before he kicks off the tour Thomas will play three sold-out nights in Atlantic City Jan. 17-19 at the Borgata Hotel, Casino & Spa to benefit the Sidewalk Angels Foundation, the organization he founded with his wife Marisol. The New York-based non-profit provides funds to grassroots groups across the country including no-kill animal shelters and animal rescues as well as supporting causes including childhood health and the fight against homelessness.

Thomas’ April 5 gig in Indio, Calif., also benefits the Sidewalk Angels Foundation.
