Earl Scruggs Center Scheduled For Grand Opening

North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory is scheduled to attend the grand opening of the Earl Scruggs Center in Shelby.

The ceremony is scheduled for Saturday.

The weekend festivities sponsored by Bank of the Ozarks includes a banjo area, live performances throughout downtown Shelby, special musical acts, complimentary previews of the center and a formal dedication ceremony slated for 1 p.m.

In the evening, the center will host a tribute, “Remembering Earl: Music & Stories.”

The tribute features an award-winning lineup that includes Vince Gill, Travis Tritt, Sam Bush, Rob Ickes, Jim Mills, Jon Gardner, Gary Scruggs and Randy Scruggs.

WSM Grand Ole Opry host Eddie Stubbs is the master of ceremonies for the event, which will showcase the sounds and memories of a bluegrass pioneer and legend.
