Wrigley Field Books Billy Joel

There’s a first time for everything, even at 100-year-old venues. Billy Joel will take the stage at Wrigley Field this summer – the first time a musician has ever played a return show at Cubs Park.

The Grammy-award winner will perform at the Chicago ballpark July 18. The first time Joel played the Friendly Confines was 2009 when he and Elton John stopped by the venue on their “Face to Face” co-headline tour.

“As we prepare to celebrate 100 years of great moments at Wrigley Field, it’s fitting Billy Joel will return to help us celebrate this great milestone,” said Chicago Cubs Chairman, Tom Ricketts. “He is such a spectacular performer and we can’t wait for him to fill the venue with his legendary songs this July!”

After kicking off his 2014 schedule with two shows in Sunrise, Fla., last week, the Piano Man will be in Tampa, Fla., tonight at the Tampa Bay Times Forum.

In addition to his ongoing engagement at New York’s Madison Square Garden, Joel has upcoming gigs lined up throughout the States including shows in Pittsburgh, Nashville, Cleveland, Los Angeles and Las Vegas, as well as Toronto.

An American Express cardmember presale for the Chicago show begins Jan. 21 at 10 a.m. CST. The general onsale is scheduled Jan. 25 at 10 a.m. CST.
