Industry Noize: Sydney Entertainment Centre Name Change
The partnership with the multibillion-dollar financial company was announced as venue management company AEG Ogden took over as operator of the 13,250-seat venue through 2015.
Venue general manager Steve Hevern said the deal ensured there would be a major entertainment venue in the Sydney central business district for most of the time that the International Convention Centre Sydney was being constructed.
“Our business case for the Sydney Entertainment Centre remaining open for a further two years included the securing of sponsorship revenue,” Hevern pointed out.
Since 1983, the Sydney Entertainment Centre hosted 4,000 events to 26 million customers.
It was listed at No. 55 in Pollstar’s year-end Top 200 Arenas for 2013, fifth among Australian venues.
