The Allman Brothers Band Adds Beacon Shows

10 shows at the Beacon Theatre weren’t enough for fans.  Popular demand has resulted in The Allman Brothers Band adding four more shows at the New York City venue with tickets going on sale this week.

The 10 gigs at the Beacon announced at the beginning of this year sold out immediately, prompting the band to add March 25-26 & 28-29.

And if you’re wondering just who will be playing in The Allman Brothers Band come March, the pioneering Southern Rock group is making it perfectly clear, saying  the lineup will include Gregg Allman on vocals and keyboards, Butch Trucks and Jaimoe on drums, guitarist Warren Haynes, slide and lead guitarist Derek Trucks, bassist Oteil Burbridge and percussionist Marc Quinones.

Earlier this month The Allman Brothers Band announced Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes were departing the group.  That piece of news came just days after bassist Burbridge squelched a rumor claiming he was leaving the Allmans for the Zac Brown Band.

But it’s hard to believe any member would walk out on The Allman Brothers Band’s 45th anniversary.  This year also marks the band’s 25th anniversary of playing the 2,800-seat Beacon.

As fans count down the days until The Allman Brothers Band begins its 2014 travels, they also have a few releases to look forward to.  Next month the band will release Boston Common 8/17/71, recorded 10 weeks before the motorcycle accident that took Duane Allman’s life.  On Feb. 18 the band will release the two-CD set Play All Night: Live At The Beacon Theatre and re-release its 1991 concert DVD, Live At Great Woods.
