Lost Highway Sets Up Aussie Operations
Lost Highway is home to country and roots acts including Ryan Adams, Lucinda Williams, The Jayhawks, Whiskeytown, Lyle Lovett, Shelby Lynn and Willie Nelson.
Local operations will sign acts from Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific region.
The first signing is New South Wales country singer Catherine Britt whose fans include Elton John and Paul Kelly.
Britt spent some of her earlier years based in Nashville.
“As a musician, A&R guy, and fan of the so-called alternative country genre, I have always been enamored by the incredible artistry brought forth by Lost Highway Records,” said Universal Music Australasia’s Sydney-based executive VP of A&R, Michael Taylor.
His early career was in New York doing A&R for Epic and Madonna’s Maverick Records.
