Lorde’s return from her double Grammy win might have had the young star snapping at the “lecherous gaze” of waiting photographers who knocked over her family in a media scrum at Auckland Airport.
But she took time to place a full-page handwritten ad in the New Zealand Herald for her fans. “hiya if you’re reading this, Joel & I won. HOLY CRAP,” reads the letter, referring to her producer Joel Little.
“I just wanted to say thank you for the time you’ve give and perform in my school shoes.”
The afternoon after Lorde made the 13-hour flight from Los Angeles to Auckland, the 17-year-old was delivering a powerful set at the Laneway festival.
