Meet The American Vinyl All Star Band

Musicians from several legendary bands will play shows to aid national charities across the country.  Dubbed, appropriately, American Vinyl All Star Band, the talent-heavy group has shows scheduled for Florida and Utah in March.

Of course, when you’re talking about any “all star” configuration, the first question is always, “Who’s in the band?” A simple answer would be “members of all of your classic rock favorite groups” but if you want to get specific, the lineup includes Steely Dan / Doobie Brothers alumnus Jeff “Skunk” Baxter, Boston former members Barry Gordreau and Fran Sheehan, Leroy “LRS” Romans (The Wailers/Third World), Robert “Mousey” Thompson from James Brown’s band and Fosterchild’s Danny Beissel.

You’d probably think that having all those musicians on the same stage would be enough to entertain even the most finicky rocker.  But when the American Vinyl All Star Band rolls into Fort Myers, Fla., to play a gig outside the Sidney and Berne Davis Art Center March 1, they’ll be joined by bass-men Hugh McDonald (Bon Jovi), Cliff Williams (AC/DC) and Charlie Colin (formerly of Train).  Also joining the band that night will be Rick Derringer and former Gregg Allman Band drummer Chaz Trippy.

The Fort Myers gig will benefit the Sidney and Berne Davis Art Center and The Able Academy.  Opening bands include The Steve Tucci Band, The Sean Chambers Band and The Matt Facciolla Band.

One week later the American Vinyl All Star Band will play the “Red, White & Snow” benefit in Park City, Utah, at Montage Deer Valley March 8.  Hosted by Bill Engvall, the event features a dinner and auction with proceeds benefiting the National Ability Center.
