Prince Plays Secret London Shows

The always-unpredictable and mysterious Prince was at it again, this time playing two secret shows in London Feb. 4.

Prince performs in London Feb. 5 following rumors of secret gigs and forthcoming tour dates. Details are being released in a trickle, but Prince said he planned to play 'iconic' venues along the lines of Bag o' Nails and Ronnie Scott's jazz club. 

The evening began in the home of singer-songwriter Lianne La Havas, where the enigmatic pop star held a press conference and performed an intimate set to a few dozen people.

He then reappeared at midnight at the 1,100-capacity  in Camden, this time to a reported 75 people.

He played this show with his new all-female outfit 3rdEyeGirl, after tweets from his manager, Kiran Sharma, led to a few dozen people lining up outside the venue.

Members of  were among those reportedly in attendance.

As far as details of the next venues he’ll play, Prince commented: “We’ll work our way up, if people like us, to bigger venues.”

He said he hoped to record the band live during its stay in London, as well as buy “some clothes, and some tea.”

Fans queued outside the Electric Ballroom and around the block Feb. 5 hoping there’d be a second performance.

Prince is believed to be planning other secret shows and special events in London throughout February.
