Odds & Ends: Oasis, Billy Joel, RHCP’s Chad Smith, Gloria Estefan

Pharrell and The Who’s Roger Daltrey are hoping for an Oasis reunion … Red Hot Chili Peppers challenges Will Ferrell to a drum battle … Gloria Estefan will be Andrea Bocelli’s special guest in Florida next week … Billy Joel announces 10th MSG show.

Maybe, just maybe, those squabbling siblings known as the Gallagher brothers will consider getting Oasis back together for Pharrell Williams.

Sure, Noel and Liam Gallagher have released a total of approximately 5,647 statements saying they will never ever resurrect the band. But maybe they’ll have a change of heart once they hear that Pharrell told BBC News that collaborating with the Gallagher brothers is one of his dream projects.

“Who wouldn’t want to work with the Gallaghers? Yeah, both of them,” the singer/songwriter/producer said.

Or maybe Roger Daltrey will be the one to convince the guys to reunite. After all, The Who frontman is already buddies with Noel Gallagher thanks to their work putting together the Teenage Cancer Trust benefit gigs.

“Noel and Liam are brothers so it will all be all right,” Daltrey told The Sun (via MusicTimes.com). “Don’t worry. Blood is thicker than music. Could I bring them together for a Teenage Cancer Trust show? Ask me next year.”

Billy Joel has locked down a date for his 10th franchise show at Madison Square Garden.

The arena’s first-ever music franchise run began in January. Because Joel promised to play one show a month at the famed New York City venue “as long as there is demand,” you might have guessed that show No. 10 will take place in October.

Well, good guess! You can find the Piano Man at The Garden Oct. 2.

All nine of the previously announced 2014 MSG shows are sold out.

Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith wants to settle a score with his doppelganger. Of course we’re talking about comedian/actor Will Ferrell.

Earlier this week Ferrell revealed during his Redditt AMA that the comedian/actor doesn’t really exist.

“It has been acknowledged many times that myself and Chad Smith, drummer for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, share a resemblance to each other,” Ferrell wrote. “A lot of people think that it’s me playing for the Red Hot Chili Peppers. But that would be an insult to Chad Smith. The truth of the matter is there is no Will Ferrell. Only Chad Smith.”

Ferrell followed up the AMA with a video on Funny Or Die’s Instagram where he reiterated, “It was great to finally clear up the fact that I am actually Chad Smith.”

Smith responded to Ferrell’s claim with another Funny Or Die Instagram video.

“It’s Chad. Stop impersonating me. In fact, I need you – drum battle. Me and you. I’ve seen your skills. You don’t got ‘em. Let’s go, Golden Cowbell.”
