The Depth Of Thievery Corporation’s Soul

Thievery Corporation has lined up a brief set of U.S. dates that begins in April, the same month the electronica act’s seventh studio album is set for release. The excursion will take the group to Georgia, Texas and Louisiana.

Saudade is due out April 1 via the act’s own ESL Music label. The LP finds Rob Garza and Eric Hilton returning to their roots with a focus on boss nova, the genre that brought the duo together in the mid-‘90s.

“This album is really about mine and Eric’s love of bossa nova music and jazz and cinematic soundtrack music from the late ’60s and early ’70s,” Garza told the Wall Street Journal.

Take a listen to the track “Depth of My Soul,” featuring Shana Halligan on vocals.

“There’s a lot of hidden meanings in the song for me. It’s kind of inspired by love, but it’s also inspired by psychedelic moments musically from all types of soundtracks,” Garza told the WSJ. “I appreciate a lot of films from that era, just the look, the stylings, the locations, everything.”

On Saturday (Feb. 8) Hilton will take part in a special DJ set with Brian Liu and DJs Yellow Fever at Den Of Thieves in Washington, D.C.
