Stillwater Promoter Pleads Guilty
The former promoter for the defunct Lumberjack Days festival in Stillwater, Minn., pleaded guilty Feb. 14 to fraud and bad check charges after being granted a second continuance in his trial.

David Eckberg, owner of St. Croix Events Inc., entered the plea to 10 felony counts of theft and issuing bad checks to distributors and partners for the 2011 Lumberjack Days totaling more than $54,000.
Just days before, Eckberg had told Judge Susan Miles he was thinking of hiring a new attorney and requested the postponement.
The judge rescheduled the trial for March 24, but had warned Eckberg he’d better be ready by then.
Sentencing has been set for April 17, according to KAAL-TV.
