Raleigh Venues’ Weather Woes

A recent sold-out performance of “The Book of Mormon” reportedly played to a nearly empty house at Raleigh, N.C.’s when a big winter storm kept many ticketholders at home, but officials have made amends.

The venue sent ticketholders for a Feb. 12 performance of “The Book of Mormon” an email offering refunds for those who couldn’t make it or tickets for seats when the musical returns for DPAC’s 2015-16 season.

Ticketholder Donna Beckmann told the local News & , which had two events booked during icy weather, found itself in hot water with fans when it didn’t cancel a concert featuring Sharon Jones. Frustrated fans flooded the Carolina’s Facebook page and the venue posted “A Letter to Angry Fans Concerning the Weather,” to explain why the show would go on.

The News & Observer noted about 500 of the 950 ticket-buyers were able to attend the show and the venue offered tickets to a different jazz performance in March to those who couldn’t make it.
