Scheduled for June 28-29 at Clapham Common, Aerosmith will play the festival’s first night, topping a lineup that includes Thunder, Walking Papers and Joe Bonamassa.  The June 29 roster remains a mystery.

Aerosmith’s spot on the Calling Festival will be the band’s first United Kingdom gig since 2010, a fact that isn’t lost on Joe Perry.  Talking about Aerosmith’s headlining slot, Perry even worked in a mention of the band’s 2012 album.

“Speaking for myself I’ve been so involved writing my autobiography I did not realize how long it had been since we have played across the big pond,” Perry said.  “It’s been far too long since we have performed in the U.K.  We can’t wait to bring back some of the classics as well as some of the new songs from Music From Another Dimension.  We miss our U.K. fans.  See you soon.”

Meanwhile, the folks at Live Nation are mighty happy about the festival change.

“This year is one of the most exciting on record for the Calling Festival.  We’re looking forward to bringing the new look event to Clapham Common, one of London’s premier outdoor locations,” Live Nation VP of Promotions Toby Leighton-Pope said.  “And we’re bringing one of America’s most iconic bands to headline Saturday 28 June.  There’s still lots of announcements to come, including a big Sunday night headliner, and we’re excited at what’s in store.”
