Resolution Scores Investment

Jeff Berg’s Resolution Talent Agency has a new investor in Beijing-based Bison Capital Holdings, in a deal that is being lauded as the first time a Chinese company has taken a financial stake in a Hollywood talent agency.

“In addition to the financial opportunity, we now have access to relationships and information that will be critical in enhancing our platform in China,” Bison’s Peixin Xu said in a statement to the Los Angeles Times.
Xu also heads up Chinese film distributor Bona Film Group.

Resolution agent David Unger, who reps actress Michelle Yeoh of “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon,” has reportedly been tapped to coordinate the agency’s business in China.

Though the financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, News Corp. China Investments CEO Jack Gao will join Resolution’s board as part of the agreement, the paper noted.

Berg said in a statement that “this partnership will allow us to fund strategic expansion in the global marketplace.”
