Moogfest Locks Down Plan

The annual celebration of Dr. Robert Moog’s synthesizer legacy will feature music along with keynote speakers, workshops and even a Theremin installation.  With an artist lineup including two nights of Kraftwerk plus Keith Emerson, Pet Shop Boys and Chic feat. Nile Rodgers, single day tickets go on sale Wednesday.

There’s a lot to like at Moogfest in Asheville, N.C., April 23-27.  The music is spread out over 10 venues during the evenings while the days deliver blow-your-mind conversations, experimentations and collaborations featuring the uber-creative with tech leaders happening in seven venues across downtown Asheville.  Included are The Simpsons’ and Futurama’s David X. Cohen, Janelle Monae, and improvised performances by Yeah Yeah Yeah’s Nick Zinner, Bradford Cox and Dan Deacon.

But wait, there’s more.  Digging into Moogfest’s brain trust reveals the festival hosting tech wizards from Google, MIT Media Labs and more.

And don’t forget about the theremin installation, a reminder that music synthesizers have their roots in Léon Theremin’s wonderful invention.
