Stones To Play Werchter Site

The Rolling Stones have been confirmed to play the Rock Werchter festival site in Belgium June 28. 
Verizon Center, Washington, D.C.

The act will play Live Nation’s TW Classic, a one-day festival that also has Simple Minds, Triggerfinger, Arno, Seasick Steve, and Admiral Freebee

The show will be part of the European leg of the Stones’ global tour, which is being promoted by AEG Live.

The act is also playing Pinkpop Festival in The Netherlands June 7, prompting the belief that there will be at least a dozen European dates in the summer of 2014.

Rock Werchter, which is on the same site July 3-6, has all but sold out its 87,500 capacity.

Werchter promoter Herman Schueremans, who won ILMC’s “Promoters’ Promoter” award March 8, says the full festival passes have all gone and there are only a handful of day tickets left.

This year’s Werchter bill has MetallicaArctic MonkeysPearl JamKings Of LeonPlacebo, and The Black Keys.
