LN Launches Family Division Downunder

Live Nation Australia and New Zealand has launched a family entertainment division, and tapped 30-year entertainment vet Graham Kennedy to head it.
Head of Live Nation Australia's new family entertainment division.

Kennedy was most recently senior manager of global touring for The Wiggles.

Before that, the one-time musician spent eight years as label and marketing manager with Festival Mushroom and then Warner Records, heading up their children’s division and overseeing all Disney music activities within Australia.

“Ticket sales globally are on an upward trajectory across all facets of live entertainment and family shows are no exception,” Kennedy told Pollstar. “With such a wonderful variety of product available in the family entertainment genre, we’re confident that we will see significant growth across Australasia through 2014 and beyond.”

Two tours will be announced in coming weeks.

The division is eyeing the overseas circuit.

“We certainly have ambitions to take Australian talent overseas and maximise all the opportunities available through the Live Nation global network,” Kennedy confirmed.

Michael Coppel, president and CEO of Live Nation Australia, also expanded the two-year old comedy division with Katie Minchin as comedy promoter.

Minchin worked in Australia and the United Kingdom, including the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and at Gilded Balloon at the Edinburgh Fringe.

Coppel said of the company’s latest expansion, “We look forward to greatly expanding our activity in these areas over the coming years.”
