New Order Marches On

New Order returns to North America for a five-city run across the continent.  With stops including Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Chicago, tickets for most shows go on sale later this week.

It’s been 33 years since the pioneering dance / electronic band released its debut Movement album in 1981, one year after the band was formed by remaining Joy Division members Bernard Sumner, Peter Hook and Stephen Morris.  Sure there have been ups and downs, including Hook leaving the band as well as breakups and reunions.  But the Brit band soldiers on and today’s New Order knows how to turn an evening into a majestic dance party.

New Order begins its road trip in Chicago 11 months after playing that city’s festival.  Speaking of Lolla – New Order will play Lollapalooza fests in , and , March 30, April 1 and April 6, respectively.  While in South America the band will perform at the festival in Montevideo, Uruguay, April 3.

But back to New Order’s North American plans.  Here are the dates:

July 1 – Chicago, Ill., Aragon Ballroom
July 6 – Quincy, Wash., Gorge Amphitheatre (Sasquatch! Music Festival)
July 8 – Vancouver, British Columbia, Queen Elizabeth Theatre
July 11 – San Francisco, Calif., Bill Graham Civic Auditorium
July 13 – Los Angeles, Calif., Greek Theatre
