Black Flag Unfurls A Tour

Featuring a new singer, legendary punk band Black Flag embarks on a May-June road trip beginning in Texas in mid-May.  Playing clubs across the land, stops on the “Victimology Tour” include Las Vegas, San Francisco, Seattle, Chicago, Toronto and Brooklyn.

Singer No. 5 for the Southern California band that began life in late 1970s is Mike Vallely.  Known as Mike V in pro skateboarding circles, Vallely is also an actor and stuntman whose credits include the 2012 “Red Dawn” remake, “The Hangover,” Paul Blart: Mall Cop” and “The Hangover Part III.”

As the singer for Black Flag, Vallely joins a list of performers that includes founding member Keith Morris, who went on to form Circle Jerks with Red Kross guitarist Greg Hetson.  Past singers also include Ron Reyes, Henry Rollins and .  Co-founder and Black Flag’s only continuous member, guitarist Greg Ginn called Vallely “the perfect frontman to capture what Black Flag was, is and will be.”

The upcoming tour will not be the first time Vallely has sang in Black Flag.  He performed with the band during a series of 2003 benefit shows.

“I’m excited about performing songs from the entire Black Flag catalog,” Vallely said.  “I feel confident in my ability to communicate the songs – to give them their due respect and yet still make them my own.  Ginn’s songwriting is truly timeless and it gives all of the material relevance right here, right now.”
