Suede, Vintage Trouble For New Japan Jam

Creativeman Productions, which organizes the Summer Sonic festival in Tokyo and Osaka, announced a new spring festival in collaboration with the music magazine Rockin’ On and Nippon Broadcasting. 

Japan Jam, which previously presented only Japanese acts, will take place May 3-5 at , a live venue on the Tokyo waterfront.

Among the foreign acts on the roster are SuedeVintage TroubleTelegram, Childhood and The Royal Concept.

Rockin’ On also produces and organizes Rock in Japan, the country’s biggest rock festival in terms of attendance, and which tends to compete with Summer Sonic because the two festivals usually take place on consecutive weekends in August.

Rock in Japan, however, is a strictly Japanese affair, though Summer Sonic has been boosting its numbers in recent years by bringing in more A-list local groups, adding to a kind of rivalry.

In other festival news, the Fuji Rock Festival released a second set of artists for the event in July: Damon AlbarnOutkastFoster the PeopleKelisLordeThe Pains of Being Pure at Heart, and
