Phantom Of The Sequel
Andrew Lloyd Webber showed up in person at the Nissay Theater in Tokyo March 10 to celebrate the Japan premiere of his musical “Love Never Dies.”
He joined the entire Japanese cast for the curtain call. “Love Never Dies” is a sequel to “The Phantom of the Opera,” which always seems to be playing somewhere in Japan.
The production will run continuously with two casts until the end of April and is guaranteed to sell out. The musical is being staged by Hori Productions, one of Japan’s biggest talent agencies, which manages the main actors in the production.
The Japan rights for many of Lloyd Webber’s other musicals, including “Evita,” “Jesus Christ Superstar” and “Cats,” are controlled exclusively by the rival Shiki Theatrical Company, which also has exclusive rights to many Disney-related musicals.
