Rapides Coliseum Lawsuit
Officials with the Rapides Parish Police Jury voted March 17 to file a lawsuit against a design firm that failed to follow through on renovations at the Rapides Parish Coliseum in Alexandria, La., on budget.

The jury’s contract with Barron Heinberg & Brocato ended in August 2013 after the design company admitted it couldn’t finish the renovation job within the planned $23 million budget that voters approved in a November 2012 bond issue.
The lawsuit seeks to recover some of the $600,000 that has reportedly been spent on project pre-construction so far.
“We’re moving forward,” jury president Joe Bishop told the area’s Town Talk. “They could not produce the product they sold to the citizens of Rapides Parish and the Rapides Parish Police Jury. Nowadays, you can’t do that to the public. You have to be held accountable.”
