RockNess Cancels

The first major casualty among the UK major festivals scheduled for 2014 is Scotland’s RockNess, which will “take a year off” because of global and local competition.

“Due to the addition of a number of events alongside the World Cup and the Commonwealth Games, we’ve decided to take a year off,” a RockNess spokesman explained. “We’re using this break to make the event bigger and better than ever in 2015.”

RockNess started in 2006 and is now controlled by AEG, which bought a majority stake in 2008. A lineup for 2014 had not been announced.
