Against Me! Extends U.S. Tour

On Tuesday Against Me! told fans on Facebook, “There are less than two weeks left of our North American headlining tour, and it’s been amazing thus far.” The trek won’t be over so soon after all because it’s been extended to include more than 20 gigs in May.

The punk rock band put out its sixth studio album, Transgender Dysphoria Blues, in January. The LP, which is a concept record about a transgender prostitute, is the first release for the band since singer Laura Jane Grace announced that she is a transgender woman.

“It’s pretty self-explanatory,” Grace told the Associated Press about the album’s title. “I’m a person who’s going through gender transition and a lot of the record was written leading up to the decision to embrace that and to go public with that – in my private life and in my public life.”

The act’s current leg of North American dates continues with Friday’s show in Edmonton, Alberta, at the Starlite Room. The round of gigs wraps with an April 6 show in Asheville, N.C., at The Orange Peel.

Against Me! returns to the road in May with another performance in North Carolina.
