Industry Noize: Reliant Park Now NRG

Houston’s Reliant Park and its associated facilities now go by the new name NRG.

Reliant Energy’s parent company, NRG has been pushing to take over the 30-year naming rights contract that began in 2001; the complex opened in August 2002.

Officials with the city’s sports and convention center authority recently voted on the new names – NRG Park, NRG Stadium and NRG Center – after inking a deal with the Houston-operated NRG Energy.

New signage is expected to be in place by the beginning of football season.
