Jack White & The World’s Fastest Record
This feat of fastness is scheduled April 19 – Record Store Day. Of course, no other day of the year would do for this special occasion. And you might have guessed that the recording session is going down at White’s Third Man Records in Nashville.
White will record the World’s Fastest Record in Third Man’s blue room at 10 a.m. The plan is for White to record a live rendition of the title track of his upcoming full-length album, Lazaretto.
An announcement on Third Man Records explains, “The masters will be rushed over to United Record Pressing who will immediately begin pressing 45s. The sleeves will be printed from pictures taken at the show. The finished records will be whisked back to Third Man to sell to awaiting fans. All in the same day. All in a matter of mere hours.”
In addition to the recording, the Record Store Day festivities include a live show from White, followed by Whirlwind Heat’s first concert since 2006. Third Man notes that Whirlwind Heat’s 2 p.m. gig is “likely their last ever.” Record Store Day will be your chance to pick up a resissue of the band’s 2003 LP, Do Rabbits Wonder, on a variety of colored vinyl. Plus, local vendors will be at Third Man for your food & beverage needs.
Tickets to see White and Whirlwind perform are extremely limited and available exclusively through The Third Man Records Vault to Platinum Members.
But you don’t need a ticket to get your copy of the World’s Fastest Released Record. All you need to do is show up in front of Third Man Records during business hours.
Third Man Records promises, “As long as there are fans in line waiting to buy the single, United will continue to press and deliver them to Third Man to sell. Even if it takes all day.” The limited edition of the single will only be available at Third Man on Record Store Day. The single is limited to one per customer.
Lazaretto is due out June 10.
