Fuji Adds Biffy Clyro, Lumineers

Kanye West canceled his appearance at this summer’s Fuji Rock Festival in Niigata, Japan, leaving two headlining slots open for the three-day event. 

In the meantime the festival added Biffy ClyroThe LumineersTravisSlowdive and White Lung.

Summer Sonic, the other big Japanese summer festival, added Queen with Adam Lambert as its second headliner, in addition to Arctic Monkeys

Korean promoters have recently announced dates for their summer festivals.

Beautiful Mint Life will hold its fifth-annual music-and-flowers-themed festival April 26 to May 4 at the Aram Nuri outdoor theater in Gyungggido Goyang.  About 50 local music groups will perform.

The Greenplugged Festival will take place May 3-4 at the Nanji Hangang Park in Seoul with 60 Korean bands.

The World DJ Festival will be at Yangpyeong Athletic Park in Gyeonggi May 4-5, and the Seoul Jazz Festival will be at the Songpagu Olympic Park May 17-18.

Rainbow Island takes place on Nami Island May 31 and June 1 and the Ultra Music Festival will happen June 13-14 at the Olympic Stadium in Seoul.

The big outdoor festivals have yet to announce lineups but Asnan Valley Rock is July 25-27, the same weekend as Fuji Rock, with which it usually shares acts.

Incheon Pentaport takes place at Penta Park August 1-3 and Supersonic, which will be at the Seoul Olympic Stadium Aug. 14-15, will likely have many of the same acts as Japan’s Summer Sonic, though the only one announced so far is Queen.
