Industry Noize: AEG Withdraws Proposal For Braves District

AEG has pulled out of consideration to develop a $400 million entertainment district surrounding the Atlanta Braves’ new Cobb County stadium.

The company had partnered for the project with Houston-based Hines Interests and Cincinnati-based North American Properties, both of which have deep ties in the city’s real estate, according to the Atlanta Business Chronicle.

In a statement, the Braves maintained the team is still “optimistic and confident to bring both a world-class ballpark and a vibrant mixed-use development to Braves fans and the community.

“We have been dedicated to finding the best partners for the long-term success of this project. … We are committed to our detailed process as we evaluate potential developers for the mixed-use portion of this project and are excited about the progress we have made thus far.”

Only one development group remains – an Atlanta-based team comprising Fuqua Development, Pope & Land Enterprises, Pollack Shores Real Estate Group and Batson Cook Development, the Chronicle said.
