Michael Franti’s Soulshine Tour

Here’s a tour announcement that should warm the souls of folks looking for just the right event for their mind, body and spirit. Michael Franti has put together a summer outing that combines his passions for music and yoga – the Soulshine Tour.

As the poster for the tour says, this is going to be “one ridiculously awesome yoga jam!” The excursion will visit more than 30 cities, starting with a June 19 stop in Santa Barbara, Calif.

In addition to Michael Franti and Spearhead, the lineup includes SOJA, Brett Dennen and Trevor Hall on select dates.

Each Soulshine show will begin with a yoga class, accompanied by an acoustic music jam from Franti and friends. Don’t worry if you haven’t already mastered crow pose or know the correct pronunciation of the Sanskrit terms. The mass yoga session, which will be led by teachers from across the United States, is “for people of all experience levels, ages, shapes and sizes.”

You might find yourself practicing next to one of the artists as the musicians plan on participating side by side with fans. Although you should keep your eyes on your own mat, we can bet that Franti knows what he’s doing. He’s been practicing yoga for over 12 years and has been featured in publications such as Yoga Journal, Origin, Mantra and Yoga magazine.

The afternoon yoga and acoustic music jam will be followed by a full concert in the evening.
