Not Tonight With Janis

An off-Broadway production of “A Night With Janis Joplin,” scheduled to open at the  in New York City’s Chelsea district April 17, is the second NYC theatrical opening to be shuttered at the 11th hour in less than one month.

The show, produced by Michael Cohl and others, and in partnership with Live Nation, stars Mary Bridget Davies channeling Joplin. Davies was widely lauded for her performance, but the production earned mixed reviews during a fall Broadway run at the Lyceum Theatre.

No details about the postponement were given, but refunds will be available.

Last month, Radio City’s “Hearts and Lights” got the hook from Madison Square Garden Co. Executive Chairman James Dolan just one week before it was to go into previews.

 “A Night With Janis Joplin” was written and directed by Randy Johnson.
