Odds & Ends: Miley Cyrus, Lost Trailers, Andre Johnson
Miley Cyrus’ “Bangerz Tour” may have hit a major road bump. Earlier this week the 21-year-old pop star who reintroduced “twerking” into the national vocabulary was forced to cancel her April 15 gig at the Sprint Center in Kansas City after an “extreme allergic reaction” to antibiotics put her in the hospital.
The next day brought yet another cancelation as Cyrus’ medical condition forced her to nix her Aug. 16 show at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Mo.
Now there are more changes, but instead of canceling the shows, dates are now being rescheduled.
Cyrus’ April 18 concert at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena has been moved to Aug. 7 and her April 19 stop at Louisville’s KFC Yum! Center is now set for Aug. 9.
But the above changes may be the tip of the mythical iceberg. CNN reports that a Cyrus representative sent the cable news channel a statement saying an allergic reaction such as what the artist is experiencing “can last from five to 27 days in these types of cases.”
Evidently Cyrus’ medical woes began last week in South Carolina when doctors prescribed Cephalexin to combat a sinus infection. According to the statement sent to CNN, the drug caused Cyrus’ allergic reaction.
Cyrus’ next scheduled performance is April 21 at Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center.
Country duo Lost Trailers split in half this week when the group announced singer Jason Wyatt was leaving so that he could focus on his solo career.
Wyatt partnered with Lost Trailers’ Stokes Nielson in 2011. Since then the duo has had two Top 40 Country hits – “American Beauty” and “Underdog.”
“I really appreciate these last few years with the Trailers,” Wyatt said. “I have loved playing to all of the great fans around the country. All I can say is stay excited … there’s a lot more to come.”
Andre Johnson probably wasn’t a household name until his tragic story ended up being one of the WTF moments in yesterday’s 24-hour news cycle.
First on the case was gossip hound TMZ, which reported that police were called to his North Hollywood apartment early Wednesday morning after the rapper who’s also known as “Christ Bearer” cut off his own penis and then jumped off of a second-floor balcony in an apparent suicide attempt.
Now Wu-Tang Clan is taking issue with what has since been reported about the now johnson-less Johnson. In the rush to spread the gory details, TMZ and other media outlets claimed that Johnson was affiliated with Wu-Tang Clan.
However, Wu-Tang Clan’s clothing line begs to differ.
Gawker reports that a message posted on WuTangClan.com denied any connection between the Johnson and “the Wutang Brand.” Actually, the message was a tad more explicit as well as NSFW, although that’s all in the past because the posting has since been deleted.
While the Wu-tang camp may not have anything to do with Johnson in 2014, there may have been a connection back in the day. Gawker sez Johnson was one half of the Northstar duo when it was “discovered” by Wu-Tang producer The RZA in 1998. In 2004 the producer released RZA Presents Northstar.
Latest media reports indicate that doctors have not been able to reattach Johnson’s penis nor his alleged connection to Wu-Tang Clan.
