Lorde Postpones Aussie Dates

Lorde postponed her eight-date Australian dates April 22, two days before they were to start in Melbourne. Tour promoter Frontier Touring announced she had to return to New Zealand on doctor’s orders to recuperate from a chest infection.

Frontier had her booked at Melbourne Festival Hall (April 24, 26), Adelaide’s AEC Theatre (April 27), Perth Challenge Stadium (April 29), Sydney Hordern Pavilion (May 2-3), Newcastle Entertainment Centre (May 4) and Brisbane Riverstage (May 6).

The high-profile singer, who real name is Ella Yelich-O’Connor, said in a statement, “It breaks my heart to have to postpone these shows as the band and I absolutely love playing to Australian crowds, and it was not a decision we made lightly. I know I need to focus on getting better in order to perform at my best. We’ll be with you as soon as we can, Aussies.”

Lorde expects to return to the road later in the year. Frontier Touring is rescheduling the dates.

British urban singer Dizzee Rascal has canceled his sole New Zealand show and three sideshows in Australia.

The New Zealand show was to have been held April 30 at Vector Arena in Auckland. It was booked through Frontier Touring. A reason will be announced shortly, the company said.

Dizzee Rascal will headline the six shows for Groovin the Moo, a regional festival produced by Cattleyard Productions. The shows run April 25 to May 10.

But three metropolitan club sideshows, through Frontier Touring, have been canceled. The 28-year-old was to have played Eatons Hill Hotel in Brisbane (April 24), Enmore Theatre, Sydney (May 7) and the Palace Theatre, Melbourne (May 8).
