SFX Buys Perryscope

SFX Entertainment has acquired Perryscope Productions, a licensing and merchandising company in New York, for an undisclosed price.

Perryscope founder and principal Norman Perry and his team will oversee and direct all aspects of SFX’s global merchandise operations, according to a statement.

Perry began his career in Vancouver in the mid-’70s, working alongside promoters Michael Cohl and Donald Tarlton.

Perryscope Concert Productions, which opened with Riley O’Connor, was an extension of Cohl’s CPI.

When agents said Cohl and Tarlton were getting too big, they asked Perry to open Perryscope in Vancouver. Now, Perryscope handles the merch for several heritage acts plus some EDM events.

“Norman Perry is a true innovator in merchandising,” SFX Chairman/CEO Robert Sillerman added. “He will expand the brand awareness of our many SFX properties and ensure high-quality, cutting-edge merchandise and collectibles will be available at events and wherever EMC fans shop.”

Perryscope clients over the years have included Pink Floyd, Genesis, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, The Rolling Stones, AC/DC, and The Police. It provided merch for Woodstock, and theatrical events including The Who’s “Tommy,” “Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark” and “A Night With Janis Joplin.”
