Odds & Ends: Jay Z/Beyoncé, Justin Bieber, Monty Python, Hangout, Rej3ctz
Although the Jay Z/Beyoncé tour hasn’t officially been announced, it looks as if the adventure featuring music’s ultra-famous married couple will play the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif., August 2.
The event was given the green light by the City Council, according to the Pasadena Star News. The newspaper says it is the 18th major event approved for the stadium’s 2014 schedule.
“I think this is a great opportunity for the city of Pasadena to get behind,” Councilwoman Jacque Robinson said, according to the Star News. “I’m glad to see the promoters consider Pasadena as an option for this concert, which I’m confident will be sold out.”
Other concerts booked for the Rose Bowl include a three-night stand by One Direction and two nights starring Rihanna and Eminem.
Promoter Live Nation has yet to reveal the routing for Jay Z / Beyoncé tour to the public.
Justin Bieber can now boast that he’s soooo bad that U.S. Customs have held him up on two coasts.
Earlier this year Customs officials at New Jersey’s Teterboro Airport had drug-sniffing dogs search for cannabis on Bieber’s rented private jet after the pop star and his entourage arrived from Canada. No contraband was found and the Bieb and his friends were released.
Bieber’s latest Customs caper occurred yesterday afternoon after his plane landed at Los Angeles International Airport following a trans-Pacific flight from Japan. Bieber was detained for approximately three hours, reports TMZ. Sources close to Bieber told the gossip site that the singer was questioned about his recent legal troubles such as his DUI arrest in Miami.
TMZ also reported that it’s a standard practice for Customs officials to question someone who’s had a few legal dustups. In other words, Bieber can expect more of the same the next time he travels outside the U.S. of A.
Organizers of the fifth annual
This year’s Hangout will host a multitude of acts, including The Black Keys, The Killers, Outkast, Jack Johnson, Queens Of The Stone Age, Pretty Lights, The Avett Brothers, Modest Mouse and The Flaming Lips.
If you can’t make it to Monty Python’s series of July shows at West London’s Playhouse Theatre, you might be able to experience the comedy troupe’s farewell at your local movie complex.
Picturehouse Entertainment has obtained the international rights to beam the July 20 show billed as “The Last Night Of Pythyon” to movies theatres around the globe, reports Variety.
The complete run is set for July 1-5, 15-16 & 18-20 and will feature John Cleese, Michael Palin, Terry Jones, Terry Gilliam and Eric Idle. Graham Chapman died in 1989.
Jovan Clayton of The Rej3ctz, the group that had a hit with “Cat Daddy,” was busted last night inside West Hollywood’s 1Oak nightclub for allegedly taking things that did not belong to him.
According to celebrities-doing-stupid-things sponge TMZ, Clayton supposedly swiped some booze and “the contents of another person’s purse.” Apparently a law-abiding citizen saw the larceny happen and took a bite out of crime by calling 911. L.A. County Sheriff’s deputies responded and cuffed the musician known as “Pee Wee” before taking him to the station. Clayton is being held on $20,000 bail.
