Juan Gabriel Puts U.S. Tour On Hold
Gabriel was hospitalized with pneumonia April 14 and discharged April 18. The superstar checked into the Las Vegas-area hospital after waking up with a fever and congestion, following a three-hour concert at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino.
The singer known as “El Divo de Juarez” was expected to get back on the road Thursday to take care of a handful of gigs at Los Angeles’ Nokia Theatre L.A. Live. A few of these dates were originally scheduled in April. He also had shows in San Jose, Calif., and Denver planned for May, along with June gigs in Oakland, Miami and Newark.
Now the “Volver 2014” tour is being pushed back to September. An announcement from Nokia Theatre L.A. Live promises that Gabriel “is making a complete recovery and will be back ‘stronger than ever.’”
Nokia Theatre L.A. Live’s statement goes on to say, “Juan Gabriel wants to thank everyone for the messages and manifestations of love and support he has received during this time by all his followers, friends, family and the press in general. He is eager to return to the stage to perform for his fans.
“The family of Juan Gabriel wants to make it unequivocally clear that he is not now and has never suffered from any malignant disease, and all reports to the contrary are completely false.”
