Keyes Trying To Get Out Of The Red
He’s vowed to “pay every act that is owed”, which will be good news for the likes of Belinda Carlisle, Howard Jones, China Crisis, and A Flock Of Seagulls.
Acting on behalf of Carlisle, who’s said to be owed the $50,000 balance from a South American tour she completed last summer, Simon Watson of the UK’s Sidewinder Management has already obtained a summary judgment against Red.
Keyes says his financial problems were caused by a messy divorce and unnamed member of his staff “stealing large amounts of money” from the company.
“On advice from my attorney, I can’t say the name as we are making a case,” he explained.
“Last year my ex-wife got everything I had including all the savings, house and the kids,” he told Pollstar. “To make things right, I’ve recently hired an accounting consultant. My ex-wife handled the accounting, and since my divorce my accounting has not been properly handled,” he said.
“My intention with my company is making good business. I need to keep working so that I can make good on all the acts and promoters I work with, those I owe, and support my ex and my new family.”
Keyes says Red is jettisoning its 8th Avenue office suite and “negotiating to get into another location” in midtown Manhattan.
He expects to move sometime next month.
