Culture Club’s Winter Excursion

It’s been more than three decades since Boy George and Culture Club dominated radio and MTV with hits like “Do You Really Want To Hurt Me” and “Karma Chameleon,” but all those years are sure to evaporate when the group launches its U.K. tour in December.

Perhaps one of the more significant aspects of the upcoming outing is that it’s the same Culture Club the world fell in love with back in the early ’80s.  Along with Boy George, fans will see guitarist/keyboardist Roy Hay, bassist Mikey Craig and drummer Jon Moss.

How big was Culture Club?  During a very short time span the band racked up sales of more than 100 million singles, 50 million albums, with seven consecutive Top 10 hits in the U.K. and nine Top 10 singles in the U.S.  The group’s Kissing To Be Clever was the first debut album since The Beatles to have three singles in the U.S. Top 10.

Touring with very special guest Alison Moyet, Culture Club will launch the trek in Scotland.  Here’s the routing:

Dec. 1 – Glasgow, The SSE Hydro
Dec. 2 – Newcastle upon Tyne, Metro Radio Arena
Dec. 4 – Leeds, First Direct Arena
Dec. 5 – Manchester, Phones 4u Arena – Manchester
