Dave Chappelle & Friends In NYC

Dave Chappelle is returning to the Big Apple in a big way. To mark his first New York City gigs in over 10 years, the comedian is extending his sold-out Radio City Music Hall residency with three nights of musical guests, including The Roots, Janelle Monáe, Erykah Badu and more.

The previously announced comedy shows – which the venue says sold out within minutes – are scheduled June 18-22.

After taking a day off, Chappelle will be back at Radio City Music Hall with The Roots June 24. He’ll be joined by Monáe, Busta Rhymes and DJ Premier June 25. The June 26 show features Badu. The special guests will play with a full orchestra, according to Radio City’s website, which notes that “the connection between improvisation and timing will be on full display” during the comedy/music shows. You can expect more acts to be announced.

An American Express presale begins Thursday, May 29, followed by a local presale Saturday, May 31. The general onsale is scheduled Monday, June 2. All onsales launch at 10 a.m. EDT.

If you can’t make it to New York, you can always relive Chappelle’s last major shindig in NYC by watching “Dave Chappelle’s Block Party.” Directed by Michel Gondry, the 2005 documentary chronicled the comedian’s 2004 Brooklyn block party that hosted the likes of Kanye West, The Roots, Mos Def, Common, John Legend, The Fugees and Jill Scott.
